Hilton Rotterdam – Melanie’s experience
Hilton Rotterdam – Melanie’s experience – Melanie, who is in the ATO Travel team, stayed at the Hilton Rotterdam in December. Sparkling lights, beautiful Christmas decorations, and, a very accessible experience. This is her story:
“I called from the car we would arrive late due to traffic”. No problem, they said. A warm welcome by Rogier (Hilton team) who received the ATO Award for their excellent customer services.
All staff members were very friendly, helpful and professional. It was obvious that everybody was aware we were checking in to the accessible room and had made the effort to realise how they could offer the customer service needed in the best way. All our wishes and questions were noticed and taken care of.
The accessible room is very spacious, as is the bathroom. Amenities were excellent, lots of towels. If I have to say one thing not utterly positive, it would be that the room has carpet, which is challenging using a wheelchair.
The beds were rather high, if you use a small manual wheelchair like I do, that is something to know before checking in. We loved the room, a cosy yet luxurious style. Room service came by with fresh fruits on a plate together with a personal note from the general manager. We truly felt welcome!
The room key also gave access to the executive lounge where we had a drink before going to the Roots restaurant for dinner.
The hotel is located near the city centre of Rotterdam, the theater and several nice, accessible shops are nearby.
I guess I would describe the hotel vibe as cosy yet business style. A perfect combination for business men and women as well as city trip tourists. The many seating areas throughout the hotel to sit and relax are inviting.
Nothing but compliments for the restaurant. Even though the breakfast buffet area is somewhat high, the service is excellent. Table reservation for us was good, since our table was easy to reach for me. I do love it when you visit a restaurant and you don’t have to ask. And the food, it was Good Food, the chef told us about the menu and recommended us his favorite dish. He was very helpful to assist me in choosing what to eat! Dinner is a big yes, at the Hilton Rotterdam.
Overall a truly great experience, as we will not forget the friendly staff and excellent customer services. Throughout our stay we did not need to ask for anything, since there were many employees available offering help or services. Personal customer services is definitely a Hilton plus.
There is valet parking service, as the hotel has no parking garage of its own, as is quite common in the Netherlands.
For me personally, I prefer a late checkout, since I need it. At the Hilton Rotterdam, this is an option, truly appreciate it.
The next day, we left our suitcases at the reception and visited the nearby (10-15 minutes) Kunsthal. A quite accessible museum we enjoyed visiting. The cafetaria was very nice too.
