The Hollandsche Manege (The Dutch Stables) is a beautiful place in the heart of Amsterdam.
Next to the lovely Vondelpark you find this historic building.

Recently a long and beautiful restoration has taken place. The architecture is stunning.
For horse lovers, an absolute gem to visit.

1744
The Hollandsche Manege is the oldest riding school in the country.
Dutch princesses and other members of the royal family’s presence are remembered by old photographs on the wall.

The Living Horse Museum
A small museum tells the story of this interesting place and its recent restoration.

The Hollandsche Manege is the oldest riding school in the Netherlands and celebrates 140 years of horses and history in 2022. Yet its history goes back to 1744.
White horses
Many horses in the stables are white. You can go see them and say hi. Be careful, not all will greet you with grace!
The Vondel carrousel
Twice a month (first and third Sunday) you can enjoy the most beautiful show called the Vondelcarrousel.
Eight horses and four women and four men are performing in a show you will not forget. The classical music they ride to makes the figures they show look like a ballet.
Accessibility
There is a handicapped toilet and an elevator. A guided tour can be requested, there is always someone there who knows all about the history and the horses.

High tea
From the balcony you can enjoy the magnificent show the ‘Vondel carrousel’ where the ladies ride in ball gowns as true amazones. A high tea makes your visit complete.
