List your property on BecomingRentABLE.com – Guest blog, NORTH AMERICA
For people with disabilities or those traveling with loved ones who have disabilities, finding accessible vacation rentals which can accommodate their accessibility needs has been very difficult.
Traditionally, one would have to spend tedious hours scouring vacation rental listings, reviewing photos, and reading through reviews to find a suitably accessible property. Now, however, there is a new solution.
Becoming RentABLE, a company dedicated to creating awareness and positive change for travel accessibility in short-term rental properties, has launched a new website to make this task much easier.
Founder and life-long disability advocate Lorraine Woodward and her team noticed a lack of accessibility search filters on popular booking platforms for short-term vacation rental properties. So they decided to create their own searchable list – and it’s free to use.
The group’s accessibility filter criteria includes features essential to those with mobility issues (whether wheelchair accessible or walker friendly), as well as vision, hearing, intellectual or developmental disabilities, and those on the autism spectrum.
36 searchable filters for accessibility
The new website, www.becomingrentABLE.com, has thirty-six searchable filters for accessibility. As accessibility isn’t a one size fits all proposition, the comprehensive list of filters is what Woodward and her team deem necessary to identify a truly accessible short-term rental specific to the needs of most renters with disabilities and makes the search for accessible vacation rentals just clicks away.
Do you need a zero threshold entry and an adjustable bed? Select those features.
Do you need hard surface parking for a lift-equipped van, ramped entry, 36” wide doors, and a roll-in shower? Select those features.
Your search is totally customizable to your specific needs.
A team of researchers at Becoming RentABLE reviews property listings on major booking platforms to identify vacation rental listings which have accessibility features meeting their clearly defined criteria and adds them to the Becoming RentABLE website as they are found.

1000+ accessible vacations rentals
While not a booking platform, the website helps identify vacation rental properties which are accessible, then links the user to those listings on their respective booking platforms.
The website is free to end users and property owners, and currently lists over 1000 accessible short-term rentals across the United States.
Using the site is easy with just 4 steps:
Step 1 – Choose a state.
Step 2 – Select any accessible feature or combination of features you want included in your short-term rental search.
Step 3: A list of properties matching those features will appear just below the search filter buttons. Scroll through the list to review your short-term rental options matching the state and features you selected.
Please note that the search focus will likely be more narrow depending on the number of features you select. If the resulting list is short, or there are no properties listed, you might try de-selecting certain features to see if that produces more results.
Step 4 – Click on the rental link provided (far right column) to view the property listing on the booking platform where it is hosted, then check availability and booking instructions to secure your rental.

Using the site is a time saver, for sure. And if you are a short-term rental property owner who would like to have your property listed on the site, there is a “list my property” form on the website to submit your property for review. Yes, it’s free.
