CHARTRES CATHEDRAL

Eure-et-Loir

Chartres – Cathedrale de Chartres

From the website:

Chartres Cathedral, a celebrated center of Christianity, was built as a model of the Heavenly Jerusalem itself. Each wall, each vault and every single stained-glass window was studied and installed to the exact millimeter as to represent the divine city.

As a consequence, the sanctuary contains an unquantifiable number of treasures and mysteries… a magical place indeed.

NANTES

Loire-Atlantique

Nantes, the city of 100 gardens

Above and beyond its 100 garden oases, the City’s green fabric is exceptional, with a network of footpaths and cycle paths stretching for 50 km along rivers and tributaries, and converging in the heart of the city to form, what has become known as Nantes the ‘Green Star’.

The Jardin des Plantes (Botanical Garden), located close to the historic centre of Nantes and the recently upgraded promenade along the embankments of the Loire, is a centrepiece in Nantes’ strategy as a “city within a garden”.

The website has tons of information about gardens, parks, trees, plants. Events, tours, botanical courses. It is very well documented and has an extensive search menu.

46 parks have accessible toilets. You can book group tours, guided tours, absolutely a recommended highlight to visit in France.
