Lauterbrunnen – Lord of the Rings
We asked an outdoor travel expert about ‘a must-go-experience’ in Switzerland and he recommended:
“Lauterbrunnen. That valley is insanely gorgeous. In fact, I think it inspired J.R.R. Tolkien’s town of Rivendale in the Lord of the Rings. So many waterfalls. Huge limestone walls. Spectacular. You can ride a train all the way up to the Jungfraujoch.”
The Jungfraujoch is a multi-story mountain complex built at 3454 meters (11.332 feet) on a saddle between the Jungfrau and Monch mountains.
There are good wheelchair accessible toilets and all internal facilities are accessible via passageways and lifts.
