Nature for all – explore and recharge

The purpose of the website Nature for All is to make information about accessible Braille nature trails and sensory gardens available to the public to increase awareness and use of the increasing number of such trails in the United States and around the world.

We share their links for you (including location) – a fantastic 111 trails in the United States and more than 100 around the globe. Germany, Italy, South Africa, and the United Kingdom have quite a few trails to explore.

Many trails are in sensory gardens, botanical gardens and in state or national parks. Enjoy the many videos we added to the information we found at Nature for All.

At their website you will also find a list of travel agencies and tour operators that offer tours for blind and visually impaired people.

At the end of this page you find more accessible outdoors tips to share.

The visually impaired and others with physical disabilities are found in every country and community in the world, but finding places for accessible outdoor experiences is challenging as many do not know they exist.

These trails and gardens can be enjoyed by those with and without physical disabilities, connecting people to nature while educating about the importance of providing inclusive opportunities for the visually impaired and others with disabilities and also conserving public natural areas and gardens worldwide.

What can be done to help the visually impaired and others with disabilities experience the outdoors?

Build a new Braille trail or sensory garden. Often Braille signs and guides can be added to existing trails and gardens to make them accessible. For information on how to get started, please fill out the contact form for a guide to creating a Braille nature trail and available resources.

Lead a nature walk for the visually impaired along a trail or through a sensory garden. Contact a local organization or school that serves the blind to arrange a group visit. If possible provide one volunteer per visually impaired participant to join them and enjoy the experience together.
