Accessible Travel News from Europe – adaptive sailing
The international sailing regatta Barcolana is also a wonderful celebration of the city, of the sea, the wind. It is the 55th edition this year. The regatta will be held in Trieste on October 8th and is accessible for all.
Trieste is a city and seaport in northeastern Italy. It is the capital and largest city of the autonomous region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, as well as of the Regional decentralization entity of Trieste. (wikipedia)
As usual, the most crowded sailing race (with more than 2000 boats) will see the participation of Sea4All – Tiliaventum from Lignano Sabbiadoro with its inclusive teams on board on 4 sailing boats, among which Càpita, the performing and accessible daysailer, one-of-a-kind, on which you can board by the proper wheelchair, held the helm, maneuver… always as an active protagonist during the regatta.
Adaptive sports
Tiliaventum, an Italian water sports association, has been promoting for decades water sports for all through the Sea4All initiatives that are carried out continuously throughout the whole year, with adaptive sports activities such as sailing, sup4all, kite4all, wakeboard, diving, excursions, and more.
These activities are organized for people with physical, sensory, or intellectual disabilities and are free of charge.
Càpita will be moored to Trieste the whole week of the Barcolana, from 4-7 October in Marina San Giusto, where it can be visited and sailed with the proper wheelchair for those who use it, for free, both mornings and afternoons, upon reservation on site at the Sea4All stand.
You can also email tiliaventumz@gmail.com for other Sea4All sailings are also the following boats: Albatros – the GS43, Aylin – Elan333 and W&S – Italia12.98.
Sea4All will be present with its stand in the Barcolana Village (n°64 sea front close to San Giusto, in the center of the City) on the shores of Trieste.
