Want to know more about what we do here?

Accessible Travel Press is a global travel news platform. By you and for you. We love to hear your stories! And we will gladly share them.

Nobody likes to go online for hours on end. We collect and share all info you need when it comes to travel and roam the planet. Or a day out in your own city. You will find tens of thousands of locations, whether you are looking for accommodation or museums, airports or beaches, that have been checked and verified by us or by partners.

We publish guides, blogs and share your stories and videos too. We are collecting and connnecting all the time. The world is such a big place!

vera 40 cities in europe

In 2009, our founder Marlies registered a business called Hotelaccessibility.com aiming to collect as many accessible hotels around the world as possible.

Soon it was decided, that it was a mission impossible, and in 2016 the business moved on to a global travel platform in 2016 called Accessible Travel Online.

6 continents

At some point early 2020, there were over 40 people working with ATO (Accessible Travel Online): travel agents, writers, social media managers, photographers, reporters, researchers and hotel inspectors. On 6 continents around the world.

In just a few years, a huge collection of high quality content had become available to many travelers needing tailor made and extended customers services during travel.

When in 2020 the pandemic hit, the world of travel changed forever. We had to start over.

All our resources are as valuable as before. We all still need accessibility information for a day out, so we focus more on local travel.

We write, we share, we recommend, we check, we verify

Our core values: connect and care

We work with three powerful slogans

we check before we share

we connect and care

we build global, and work local

How it all started

In 2007, working on an accessibility for retail project – delivering custom made ramps to shops for the city – ATO founder Marlies was made aware that accessibility is usually a term, not a given. Surprised to know the world is such an inaccessible place, she decided to do something about it, not sure how though. This is when she met Melanie.

Over the years, working closely with people with diverse disabilities, we gained knowledge and insight in that huge gap between businesses and their customer services when it comes to accessibility.
