Italy and the sea – sports teams are getting ready for the Regatta dei duo golfi

Sea4All teams at the Regatta “dei 2 Golfi” in Lignano Sabbiadoro (North-eastern Italy)

The 2 Gulfs Trophy offshore sailing race will take place April 25th -28th, 2024 in Lignano (Northern Adriatic Sea). One of the boats participating is the Càpita, accessible 9.50 m day sailer one-of-a-kind with inclusive teams from the local sport association Tiliaventum.

Sport and inclusion at sea

It is a competition not specifically paralympic, reserved for boats with ORC formula, and the participation with inclusive teams (with so-called disabled together with able-bodied on board all as active protagonists) confirms once again that sports like sailing the sea are for all.

This important event attracts teams from all over Italy and from abroad to the Adriatic waters. That is already a huge “victory” and a further opportunity to confirm the complete feasibility of inclusion and of the psycho-physical benefits that sport can give. Memories are made before and after the race, at the accessibility of the Tiliaventum site located within D-Marin Punta Faro Resort.

The boat Càpita is a monohull high-performance sailing boat with solutions that make it easily usable by everyone:

  • independent access on board with an electric or manual wheelchair
  • steering wheel without spokes for its comfortable use
  • mobile platform for a secure and pleasant skid-boat posture
  • excellent visibility from a sitting position
  • color contrasts for a favorable perception of spaces
  • equipment for those with visual limitations
  • joystick for steering in case of motor limitations to the upper limbs

Sea4All activities (Sea For All) organized with the association Tiliaventum from Lignano include participation to regattas, not specifically paralympic such as the 2 Gulfs Trophy, but also to the famous Barcolana (autumn Championship) and many others. You can understand the excitement is even greater if you get that number one position!
– 1° place at the 2023 Autumn Championship,
– 1° place class in the previous editions of Punta Faro Cup
– 3rd place at the Lui&Lei in reduced crew and many others.

Sea 4 All

Sea4All is a very intense program of continuous activities coordinated by the inexhaustible President Dan Passoni, who is supported by about fifty volunteers and members. His team, in addition to racing, organizes open days, sailing, transfers, courses, information/training activities. And also kite4all, sup4all, excursions and much more all year round.

Barrier free

All activities are without physical, mental or economic barriers (participation is free of charge), focused on the person as such, regardless of the so-called disabilities.
Diversity is captured to build a more serene everyday life for all with satisfying social structures dedicated to the assistance of the person. Tiliaventum also works with the Mental Health Centre from Gorizia.

Crew members cannot wait to show up on the starting line. They want to live the regattas and go home with that rewarding baggage of experience that sport can give.
