The athletes\, one woman and five men will compete in Para Athletics\, Para Swimming\, Para Canoe and Taekwondo.\n\n\n\nThe team represents the more than 82 million people around the world who have been forced to flee war\, persecution\, and human rights abuses\, 12 million of whom live with a disability. The Chef de Mission for the team is Ileana Rodriguez\, a refugee from Cuba who competed in the London 2012 Paralympic Games in swimming for the USA. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe pictogram designs pay homage to the first ones used when the Japanese introduced pictograms to the Olympic Games back at the Tokyo Olympics in 1964 to visually communicate each sport.\n\n\n\nAccording to Japanese designer Masaaki Hiromura\, who led the team that designed the Tokyo 2020 pictograms\, the pictograms are created to highlight the athleticism of each sport and dynamism of athletes.
