ART, art and more art! in Amsterdam
ARTZUID is the leading sculpture biennale in the Netherlands. Every two years, fifty high-profile sculptures are exhibited for four months in the green lanes and parks of Amsterdam Zuid.
The sculpture selection is of museum quality and features top international artists and promising young Dutch talent. ARTZUID’s mission is to create a new meeting place for people on the street through art and to make art accessible to everyone free of charge.
The 7th edition of ARTZUID will take place from 1 July – 17 October entitled IMAGINE. Originating from the song John Lennon wrote 50 years ago. As an artist he expressed in the lyrics his dream for a better world where the world is one.

In the beautiful neighbourhood called simply ‘South’ in Amsterdam, we visit this lovely treat every time. Enormous scupltures and works of art lift your spirits and make the city a fairytale scenery where you can walk and stroll around for months to enjoy art, art and more art!
There are works to admire from some 50 artists who share their work. Amazing, interesting and sometimes beyond understanding.
Art is personal – for the artist, creating art as well as the visitor, admiring the art. We have seen artists from Austria, Belgium, China, Curaçao, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Nigeria, Spain, Suriname, Sweden, Poland, Switzerland, South Africa, United Kingdom and United States.
We do love art! In any shape, style or format. This exhibition is a true gift for the soul. It is free, it is accessible and it is here for months to come.
Along the beautiful lanes called Apollo and Minerva, you can easily enjoy the works using the wide pavements or the pathways that are sometimes there in the grass.
Most of the sculptures are truly enormous in size, some are even gigantic! And all of them bring so much food for thought, that will bring you so much.
We will go back for sure, as it is simply too much to see in one day. The lovely summer breeze and beautiful blue sky made the day perfect.
Enjoy some of the art here, in our gallery, and check out our reviews on Google Maps where you can find more imagery.
The golden astronaut is called ‘The Thinker’, with a reference to Rodin’s world famous ‘Le Penseur’.
It is impossible to describe the images, as they are works of art to be interpreted in many ways. Art is very personal. Although all sculptures are there to see and appreciate, they are freely accessible.
There are guided tours available, visit the website of ArtZuid to book in advance.
